How to verify whether a fellowship is currently accepting applications
A programme can remain academically valuable after its application window closes. Before treating any listing as open, look for current-cycle evidence on the official programme, institution or application page rather than relying on an old annual date.

Confirm the named intake, opening date, closing date and application route. A page describing a previous fellow or old call does not prove that recruitment is active now.
Read status labels carefully
Active application means a current deadline or open-call statement is supported. Upcoming cycle means a future opening is published. Rolling application means the official route accepts enquiries or submissions without one fixed closing date.
Treat uncertainty honestly
When a programme exists but no current call is published, OrthoFellow uses Current availability unconfirmed. Intermittently offered is reserved for programmes whose own information indicates that they do not run every year or depend on host availability.
Reconfirm before committing funds
Open the official source immediately before submitting documents or paying for examinations, translations, travel or registration. Deadlines can move and programmes can close early.

Can last year’s deadline be moved forward by one year?
No. An old annual date should not be projected automatically. Wait for a current official call or label the availability unconfirmed.
