ELIGIBILITY & REQUIREMENTS

Clinical / academic eligibility
  • Orthopaedic surgeon who has successfully completed local training programme (target audience stated in the programme document)
  • Basic medical degree from an accredited medical university or medical school; passed the national licensing examination of the country of conferment where applicable (SMC temporary-registration requirement)
  • At least 12 months housemanship/internship with a certificate of satisfactory completion or equivalent
  • Registered as a medical practitioner in the country of current practice and certified to be of good standing by the Medical Council or relevant national authority; in active clinical practice for the 3 years preceding the Singapore registration application
  • Minimum 3 years' working experience as a medical officer (or equivalent); preferably holds a postgraduate diploma or medical degree
  • Meets SMC English-language requirements if the basic medical degree was not taught in English
  • Sponsored by (i) the government, (ii) a regional health authority or (iii) an appropriate institution in the home country; for (iii) the doctor must be in current full-time employment (40 hours or more per week) with the sponsoring institution
