Clinical / academic eligibility
  • Prerequisite specialty: Ortopedia y Traumatología
  • Nationals or foreigners may compete
  • Must be incorporated and active in the Colegio de Médicos y Cirujanos de Costa Rica (those with incorporation in progress may register)
  • Must take and pass the CCSS single knowledge exam (administered by NBME) at or above the percentile set by the CCSS
  • Foreigners register with a residence card or other Dirección General de Migración y Extranjería document; starting the residency is subject to Costa Rican labour regulations
